The residential area bordering Davenport Centre has seen changing land use in the last few decades. What were family homes have been turned into businesses.
The age of the area means the homes cannot be demolished. The buildings are retained, but their use changes.
In the Point area there are examples of façadism. Here the original uses tended to be warehouses etc associated with the bordering port. The area went into decline but has had a renewal as restaurants and upmarket businesses have moved into the area.
